The Western Pediatric Surgery Research Consortium (WPSRC) was established in 2017 by the Departments of Surgery from 10 children’s hospitals in the Western United States. The purpose of the Consortium is to work collaboratively to perform clinical research on diseases and conditions that are rare, which would not be possible to perform at a single institution. The goal of WPSRC is to improve the care of patients through the development of high-quality evidence-based research that ultimately leads to advancing best practice, improving quality, and decreasing cost burden. This is a 2-year research commitment to the WPSRC housed at the University of San Francisco starting July 2026. We expect this person to fulfill a combination of clinical, research, and academic requirements during their tenure. In addition to WPSRC projects, the fellow will be expected to initiate and complete projects focusing on pediatric trauma in collaboration with the UCSF pediatric trauma research program. The fellowship will include clinical call at the Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland and a Master’s Degree. This person should have completed at least 3 years of general surgery training.
