Research Investigator – Cardiac Surgery
The Division of Cardiac Surgery at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital is seeking a full-time, laboratory-based principal investigator with an interest in aortic biology and disease and/or drug delivery for aortic disease. This candidate will work in close collaboration with cardiac surgeons in the Division and develop a rigorous program of scientific investigation centered on cardiovascular disease, with a focus on aortic disease.
The successful candidate will have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD with professional, academic, and basic science research skills in the field of vascular biology, bioengineering, or drug delivery. Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years of relevant postdoctoral research experience and experience in collaborative interdisciplinary research as evidenced by publication records, research projects, or previous positions. Previous work in a clinical environment is a plus. The candidate must also have evidence of effective communication skills, an aptitude for mentoring postdoctoral fellows and students, and a demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
The position offers outstanding scholarly and scientific opportunities in a collegial and collaborative department and division with strong ties to the Heart and Vascular Center as well as other Departments throughout BWH and Harvard Medical School. Salary and academic appointment will be commensurate with training and level of experience. We will support the candidate for the rank of Instructor at Harvard Medical School.
