The Department of Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is seeking an academic clinician, leader and scholar to serve as Chief of the Division of Breast Surgery and Co-Director of the BreastCare Center at BIDMC. Candidates should be board certified in general surgery, fellowship trained in breast surgical oncology, and be eligible for a full Massachusetts medical license. Appointment as Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training and achievements in addition to teaching activities.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong clinical capabilities in the care of patients with breast diseases and experience leading a high-volume breast program. A record of academic productivity is required as the candidate will be involved in the research and academic mission of the department, including teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Preferably, candidates should have a successful record of clinical trials leadership and translational research. Applicants from communities traditionally underrepresented in medicine are welcome.
The Department of Surgery is engaged in the new clinical collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), BIDMC, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England’s only free-standing adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will bring together world-class clinicians to deliver transformational, precision medicine in an environment solely dedicated to defying cancer.
